Dotticure Fail?

Perhaps this has happened to you before... You have a great idea for nail art in your head. You can totally picture it... the colors, it looks perfect! But then when you actually try it out, not so much! LOL

It's been a while since I used my dotting tools. I wanted to try out my NARS Amchoor that my friend Grace at Lacquer & Lattes sent me. It is my very first NARS and it is YELLOW!! I thought the Zoya Flash Collection (Jolene, Dana, Maura, Jancyn, Perrie, Robyn) would go well with it. I was totally right about the color combo, but I think I went overboard with the dots! LOL As we have previously established, I am totally too hard on myself when it comes to nail art. I want it to look PERFECT! I showed a few of my friends and they reassured me it looked fine. But I am still my own worst critic! Take a look, tell me what you think...

Artificial light, no flash.

After I "ruined" my famous hand, I tried not to make the same mistake with my "non-famous hand" lol. This is more of what I was aiming for. I think its better, but a little messy. But what do you expect for my dominant hand, right?! HAHA! Meh, again I am probably being way too hard on myself. Take a gander at Righty!

Which one do you like better? Lefty or Righty?

I love the way both hands look, the second hand you show is definitely more defined and yes you are being too hard on yourself! It looks fun and cool! I tried using my dotting tool for the first time last night and my dots do not look anything like yours, how in the world do your dots lay flat? I like your mani :)

I think this turned out fine! Looks like gum balls!

I like it-definitely not a fail! I've only used dotting tools twice; the first time I used them my dots looked like I had done them while having full body spasms. Not pretty.

Thank you everyone!!

Christine/Apply Polish Here, you made me LOL loudly! HAHA

Fiorella's Closet, they were raised but when I added Seche Vite, it made them flat.

I like them both! Your left hand reminds me of clowns though...the right hand doesn't. Weird!

This looks awesome Traci! I see how you like your non-dominant hand better; but I loved them both!

Well, I do like the right hand better. The left hand is fine but I think it would have been better without the yellow dots on top! That's the only thing I'd change about it!

This is really cute and happy though! I dig it.

I don't care for 99% of dotticures, but this I love!!!!!

Take it from someone who has never done nail art, but still appreciates seeing a pretty nail - these look great to me. I think it depends on what you mean by perfect. I can't see anything wrong here... just a very fun set of brightly colored dotted nails. Looks like a win to me.

I see what you mean, the right personally is my fav. But I would seriously be ECSTATIC if EITHER of my hands looked this good! LOL. You really are too hard on yourself!

I have to say, I like your non-famous hand. The yellow dots on the famous hand aren't doing it for me but are by NO means a fail. It does remind me of clowns though =P

I LOVE this, it's like a birthday party on your nails!!! Both hands look great but I agree, after seeing your right hand, the left one could use a few less dots (I SO would not have thought that if you hadn't given a glimpse of righty though!!)!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE both hands :) So fun and summery--no fail here!

I totally understand tho....just did some nail art, and took it off the next night. Need to redo. Also a perfectionist LOL (I made my quilting teacher crawl up a wall with my OCD-ness)

Totally pinning--for the win ;) xoxo

Wow this looks really fantastic!!! I think I might prefer the left hand more even though I know it's not what you had in your head....
The colours go together brilliantly too :)
